La e-Gioconda v1.0

it has been a long time since i last wrote here. oh well ... i've been busy lately working on a larger project that it's going to be released in the end of february.
so ... excuses aside. i'm taking this oportunity to post a simple app i made a few months ago.
this piece is called "La e-Gioconda v1.0" and it's made in processing using opencv.
there are no optical illusions ... the eyes of La e-Gioconda follow the observer by detecting his/her face.
here is a small video demo. Hope you enjoy it.
description:
one of the great features of the original portrait "La Gioconda" by Leonardo da Vinci is the profound look that the depicted character presents to the observer. this "voyeurist" sensation is noticed worldwide as one of the key aspects of the portrait.
given that La Gioconda is being used as a direct reference in the work of inumerous artists along the years and covering a broad range of artistic and cultural movements, i've decided too, to make my own interpretation of gioconda.

Barcelona

it's been a while since i last wrote here (once again), but this time the reason is appropriate. i'm in barcelona (arrived last sunday afternoon) and since then i've done nothing but search the web for a room to live in.
finally ... three days later, after walking miles back and forward on the ramblas, i found a place that looks just suited to my needs.
i'll be posting more frequently once i'm settled.
my traineeship at SPECS starts at june 1st and i'm looking forward to dig deep in the world of technological development and interactivity in this digital era.
i have another good news ... i've been invited yesterday to make part of OEX (Onextrapixel) crew as a guest writer. Check out the site ... it's worth it. expect some of my articles there soon.
well ... for now ... that's all folks.
see u soon!

Obama's Portrait
i've done a couple of days ago a photomontage of a barack obama's portrait.
it's an ordinary view of an extraordinary personality. in this personal work i intend to bring to the public a perspective of barack obama as a common person. it has a touch of auto-biographical portrait in the way that some lines and shapes of obama's physiognomy are worked and in the expression brought up with the self-expanding and punching objects.
i think i'll be posting some diferent views of this work later on.

INOV-Art Scholar
i just received, a few hours ago, a phone call from the inov-art program saying that i've been selected for a traineeship period of nine months in barcelona ... more precisely at the specs laboratory (university pompeu fabra - institute of audiovisual studies).
i haven't ever been so happy with a news as with this one. what a great oportunity.
some say hapiness is a manifestation of ignorant personalities. well ... call me ignorant. i don't really care =)
catch this oportunity next year ... it's most certainly a very good one.

hope you enjoy these changes. they're very subtle. i just needed to clean some edges.

Obama on the Cross
new work uploaded to the graphic design section.
it's a photo montage of barack obama standing in the cross. all the world citizens expect something great from this singular man because of his messianic characteristcs. this is a representation of the future aparition of this particular individual, rejected and loved by many.
this work opens a new perspective on my work methology and a new project combining historial people of the present and historical paintings of the past.

Self-Portrait
i've been with some free time in my hands lately so i decided to do some work and put in practice some ideas i had along the years ... i've been struggling to make possible some of the ideas but they are flowing now!
here i'll post two illustrations/graphics i made yesterday and the day before.
the first one is a self-portrait, partially drawing and digital photo manipulation.
i started by drawing this basic self-portrait with pencil and paper ...

and this is the final result after photoshop.

the second one is all digital.
it gathers images obtained in the web.

hope you enjoy them and don't forget to comment!

Happy B-Day!
a new illustration was uploaded to the graphic design section ... it is a photoshop montage of my girlfriend i made for her birthday! she hated it ... and i loved that reaction from her ... it made me feel like the gift was worth it. To me, it doesn't matter if a reaction is good or bad ... i'm glad with a pure reaction, that's all.

there's also new material updated in graphic design.
it consists in an entanglement between rival iconographic images (ronald mcdonalds meets burger king's crown). check them out in the link above.
